Did you know that September is Healthy Aging Month?  Hawthorne has numerous services and activities to help those on the Near Westside of Indianapolis stay strong and active as they age.

Healthy Aging Month is meant to provide inspiration and resources to adults over the age of 45 (That’s young!) to improve their physical, mental, social and financial well-being.  Hawthorne provides services that address each of these areas.

Our goal at Hawthorne is to make sure that area residents have what they need to stay healthy and engaged throughout their lives.

Hawthorne provides a number of services and activities each month for older adults including a daily hot, home-cooked meal; wellness and exercise activities; grocery shopping and other field trips; bingo and euchre games; and volunteer opportunities. The social activities help with mental health by helping older adults connect with their peers and others.

Hawthorne’s Center for Working Families can also help older adults approaching retirement or those on fixed incomes make the most of their money by providing financial education, computer and internet access and tax preparation.

It’s never too late to take care of yourself…physically, mentally and financially!  If you know an older adult that could benefit from our services, please refer them.  Just reach out to Dawn Dunderdale with questions about our Older Adult programs.  Dawn can be reached at 317-637-4312, ext. 121 or by email at ddunderdale@hawthornecenter.org.
