INDIANAPOLIS – Hawthorne Community Center in Indianapolis has hired Elaine Dillahunt as its new deputy director. Dillahunt has more than 30 years of experience in community programs and services, most recently as the superintendent of operations at Indy Parks and Recreation. During her tenure at Indy Parks, Dillahunt held a variety of positions including interim director.
Dillahunt graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She is also a graduate of the Indiana University Executive Development Program and the Oglebay Revenue Sources Management School. Dillahunt received the Mayor’s Performance Award from then-Mayor Greg Ballard in 2012, the National Parks and Recreation Association’s Excellence in Aquatics Award and the Best Community Center Manager from Aquatics International.
Hawthorne Community Center serves the Near Westside of Indianapolis and provides a variety of services for all ages including early education, financial literacy classes and senior citizen programming.
“We are thrilled to have found someone with so much experience, knowledge and the top-notch leadership skills to be our new deputy director,” said Hawthorne Community Center Executive Director Diane Arnold. “Elaine will help us take Hawthorne into a new era and help us serve the community for generations to come.”
Dillahunt will support the executive director and day-to-day operation of the center, supervise select staff members and oversee financial management operations.
